先多謝綱主提供的資料，前天剛從埃及回來。
開羅博物館及帝王谷巳禁止拍攝，導遊說博物館在二個月前開始不准拍攝，要存放在門口；在帝王谷室內如發現使用相機拍攝立即沒收，但可見到有人偷偷用DC拍攝，當然沒有用FLASH，VIEDO要存放在門口：Abu Simble室內仍可拍攝，埃及導遊說四個月後開始禁止拍攝，非常可惜，室內燈光好暗，我用DSLR ISO1600快門十分慢。導遊建議我們要補充糖及鹽份，最好是吃甜品及飲七喜加盬，正露丸需帶備，而我有帶寶礦力粉、菊花晶、茅根晶，當地天氣早上巳很熱，下午時外出氣溫加上土地的熱力散發更加熱。

I am going to Egypt this Wed. Everything is ready and I am practising on 300D every day. But I am quite concerns the shooting conditions. How do u deal with the high contrast problem, say bright sky and dark building. if using metering, which area u will focus on? In addition, can I use tripod or flash in the museum? I have practised the CPL. But, this really stop at least two down. I use ISO 1600 +wide open which is still underexposure. even using photoshop, the underexposure still can't rectified.
Is there any further advice for phototaking in this extreme conditions.

During the trip, your situation should occur only in sunset/sunrise backlit conditions. There is no way to correct this. Either compromise or avoid it by different framing. Fuji's latest SuperCCD (HR something?) claim to be able to improve on this but I think this helps little for such a high contrast. Perhaps you may simulate this by taking a bright and a dark version and combine them in software.
Tripod or flash is not allowed in museums. My museum photos were taken mostly by ISO 400 slides. You should take off your CPL in dim and hand-held conditions.

Gradual gray should be used on scenes with high contrast having a relatively clear-cut boundary. It doesn't depend on whether it is sunny or not. In fact, I usually use it during sunrise/sunset time. Unless you take astronomy photos of solar spots, there is no need to reduce sunlight. It is the shutter speed, aperture and ISO speed to control the amount of exposure. However, CPL can make the sky more blue and colours more saturated under certain conditions and hence worth bringing it to the trip. Many of my outdoor photos used it.
Traditionally, the stone Egytian architectures need +ve exposure compensation for correct exposure. But your DC will make you an easier work than I was. Just review the photos immediately and retry with increase/descrease exposures if needed. DC also has an advantage to switch to high ISO when taking dim indoor photos.
Know your camera before the trip. Many people tend to complain their equipment's incomplete feature set, although usually it should be themselves to blame for imperfect outcomes. Furthermore, see those travel books to discover how others take photos of Egypt before you go.

你好, 十分欣賞你的網頁及相片, 令我回想於04年4月與朋友一起去埃及& 約旦的快樂時光, 謝謝.
當時因為終於去到abu simble十分興奮^^, 亦去了朋支介紹的white desert(超美的地方, 像是在沙漠中的冰川, 一片雪白, 且有些被侵蝕成不同形狀, 就像精雕細琢而成),這地點值得推介, 但須露宿沙漠. 個人始終認為該地的旅遊區太商業化(連古跡均差不多都有light show!)
反而約旦卻令我意外, 不單所遇的人友善/熱情/好客(未知是否沙士及戰亂關係令遊客大減,所以招待得特別好), 風景也十分難忘(除petra外Aqaba,Wadi Rum,Jerash也用了我不少菲林)
半年前亦曾去了斯里蘭卡, 估不到這地方也很不錯,例如:sigiriya, polonnaruwa, anuradapura(尤其polonnaruwa 十分特別, 最可惜是gal viharaya正進行維修, 部份被遮蔽而看到!)
因我與朋友均較喜歡先設定好行程並在香港與當地agent先book好車及hotel等, 故此與一般自助遊不同(我地較懶)
